About Valise

A trip planner and expense splitter that works without an account. Flights, stays, transport and places sit on a plan grouped by destination; a Days view lets you drop places onto each day and drag them into order; a map shows every place with the day's route drawn through it; the money screen splits every expense in the currency it was paid in and works out the fewest transfers that settle the trip; the papers — tickets, bookings, insurance — are copied into the app. Everything lives in a database on your device. Share the suitcase as a file and a friend's copy merges into theirs. No login, no server, no cloud, works offline.

Features

One Suitcase Per Trip

Flights, stays, transport, places and notes on one plan, grouped by destination and in date order. Add a stop with its address and coordinates, a flight with its number and confirmation, a stay with its check-in and check-out — and the days fill in from the dates

Days That Make Sense

One column per day of the trip. Dated items land on their day by themselves; drop places onto a day and drag them into order. Between two stops an estimated travel time by foot, transit or car, and a day that fills past twelve hours says so

Everything On The Map

Every place on the plan as a sticker pin, the day's route drawn through its stops in order, a hold on the map to save a place, a search by name, and one tap to open directions in Apple Maps or Google Maps

Split Without The Awkward Part

Each expense keeps the currency it was paid in, split equally, by shares or by exact amounts. Balances come out in the trip's currency, and Settle up lists the fewest transfers that bring everyone to zero — tested, not guessed

Papers In The Suitcase

Tickets, bookings and insurance copied into the app and opened with the system viewer, offline. A cover photo per trip and a receipt photo per expense, picked from your library

Share A File, Not An Account

Send the suitcase as a .valise file over AirDrop, a chat or mail. A friend opens it and it merges into their copy — by id, latest edit wins, and the expenses they paid are never overwritten by yours. No sign-in, no server, no cloud

About Valise

A trip is a suitcase, and everything for it lives on your phone. Valise keeps the plan (flights, stays, transport, places), the days (a timeline you drop places onto), the map (every saved place and the day’s route), the money (who paid, who owes, and the fewest transfers that settle it), the papers (tickets, bookings, insurance — copies kept in the app) and the people (names, no accounts) in one place, offline.

The reference we set out to beat does the plan, the map and the money — behind an account, with a server in the middle. Valise does all three, free, without asking you to sign up for anything. There is no login screen because there is no server to log into.

Share a file, not an account

A group shares the suitcase as a .valise file — AirDrop, a chat, mail. A friend opens it and it merges into their copy of the trip: entities are matched by id, the latest edit wins, deletions travel with the file, and the expenses each person paid are never overwritten by someone else’s copy. Your “me” stays “me”. Nothing about the merge happens anywhere but on the two phones.

The money, honestly

Every expense keeps the currency it was paid in. Balances come out in the trip’s base currency using rates you typed or fetched on tap from the European Central Bank’s public feed; an expense with no rate is shown as unrated rather than folded into a wrong total. Settle up is the fewest transfers that bring everyone to zero, and marking one as paid records it as a transfer, so the balances close.

Never interrupted

A small banner sits on the trips list, the money screen and settings, and one full-screen ad may appear after a settle-up is viewed or a trip card is shared. Never over the map, never on a day, never in the middle of a form. Nothing is sold: no in-app purchase, no upgrade, nothing gated.

What it does not do

Valise 1.0 has no accounts, no live co-editing, no cloud backup, no flight lookup by number, no itinerary generator and no routing engine. Travel times between two stops are estimates from distance and pace, labelled as such, and directions are handed to the maps app you already use.
